Novy Svet

Alder and I explored a little neighborhood today called Novy Svet, which can be found in the Castle District. Though close to Prague Castle, Novy Svet feels hidden, like a secret. It’s quiet and peaceful and enchanting: cobblestone streets, windy roads, and colorful stucco houses.

It’s an area that’s new to me, and I just think it’s great. There’s a beautiful baroque church – Loreta – that you could spend all day exploring. And there’s even a palace – Czernin Palace – which is home to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was fun wandering around the palace gardens, which are impeccably maintained.

We ended our visit by having dinner at one of the cutest restaurants I’ve been to. It’s part of the Hotel U Raka, a former cottage built in the late 1700s. It was super cozy, just three or four tables, and one waitress. The food was pricey, but was worth it. We had the traditional chicken schnitzel , not the healthiest of meals, but oh so good!
