3 everyday Czech phrases

There are three Czech phrases that I hear or use pretty much every day when out and about in Prague. They’re good ones to know and, luckily, aren’t too difficult to say! Click on each phrase and have a listen.

  1. dobrý dentechnically good morning or good day, but used as a general greeting any time of day
  2. děkuji/děkuju – thank you
  3. na shledanou – goodbye

A phrase I don’t use every day but is quite handy:

mluvíš anglicky? do you speak English?  —usually said with a look of panic on my face as I’m being spoken to in Czech.
